Annika Meyer, M.D.

Dr. Annika Meyer, M.D.
Annika Meyer, M.D., is originally from Fremont in Northern California’s San Francisco Bay Area. She graduated magna cum laude from Santa Clara University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. There she had the opportunity to publish unique research on web-spinning insects called embiids. She was a member of the Dean’s List. She was also nominated to the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society, the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, and the Tri-Beta National Biological Honor Society.

She went on to complete her Medical Doctorate at Saint Louis University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri. There she fell in love with surgery and researched the use of hemostatic agents after endoscopic sinus surgery. She received all Honors in her clinical courses and was awarded the Dr. Robert M. Woolsey Award for the best overall performance in her Neurology clerkship. She was recognized for her high academic achievement and for embodying morality, virtue, and humanism by being elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.

Dr. Meyer then moved to New York City to complete her internship and residency in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, one of the top residency programs in the country. There she performed many functional and cosmetic head and neck surgery cases, particularly reconstruction after large cancer resections. She had many excellent mentors at Mount Sinai and researched free tissue transfer monitoring using novel imaging techniques, with several presentations at national meetings and peer-reviewed journal article publications. Along with her interest in science, Dr. Meyer has always loved art, especially drawing and painting, which influenced her decision to pursue a fellowship through the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. She loves how small changes in the face can have a significant impact on how patients feel, and how this self-confidence can affect all aspects of their lives. She is thrilled to be completing her fellowship with Dr. Stephen P. Smith in Columbus, Ohio.

During her free time, Dr. Meyer enjoys reading, running, golfing, and snowboarding.
